Who are we?

Basically: two idiots who quit their stable & well paying jobs to start our own business.

Why we exist

The outdoor industry got boring.

It got lighter, cheaper, more disposable, more the same. Rack after rack of the same plastic jacket with a different badge. Grey, black, another shade of grey. Somewhere along the way the trade forgot how to make a thing you'd keep for fifteen years.

The big technical brands are already very good at what they do. We've no interest in trying to outdo them. What we offer is different: kit judged on how it's made and where it's from.

Not performance. Not fashion. Made properly.

What we hold to

Most outdoor gear is made down to a price and binned in two seasons. We think that's backwards. Here's what we do instead.

Built to be kept

People used to save up for a jacket and wear it for ten years. We're building for that again. Gear made to be used hard and still going when you hand it on. And we back it: if something we made fails you, tell us and we'll sort it.

Fewer things, done right

We make one thing at a time, and it has to be the best in its category before the next one starts. Pick up anything we make and it should surprise you in the hand. If it doesn't, it doesn't get made.

No pretending

We're not going to pretend we've got some big history. Bear&Wolf is just a year old. You're watching the whole thing get built as it happens.

Proper, or not at all

There's a cheaper way to make everything we sell. We know, because we've priced it. Heavier cloth than it strictly needs, buttons that'll still be there in year ten. The build standard doesn't move, whatever the spreadsheet says.

Two mates and a stubborn idea.

Jake started The Bear&Wolf Co in April 2025, after years of opinions about gear that didn't last. Bill came on board early. The two met in the military, both photographers, and Jake asked him in because he got the brand before there was much of a brand to get.

The idea was properly made outdoor kit, built for real Scottish conditions. Since then it's become a shop in Garmouth and a community called the Wolf Pack. The idea hasn't changed.

Real life first. The rest is the by-product.

We're pro being out there. Pro actually doing the thing. Meet ups, wild camps, shoot days, days on the hill with the people who back us. What you see from us comes from days that actually happened.

We aim to find people living the life and tell their stories properly, with the gear along for it.

Made for people who check.

Our customer buys one good thing and wears it until the elbows go. They care how it's made and where it's from, and they'll check the label. Good. That's who we make for.

Bushcrafter, farmer, walker, wild camper. Different people who'd all stop for the same view. The place ties us together, and the place is Scotland.

Former RAF photographer. Cowboy hat enthusiast. Spends most of his time thinking about cloth, suppliers, the shop, and what Bear&Wolf makes next. If it happens in the real world, it's Jake.

How we make this stuff

Every product has to work in Scottish weather and beat what's already out there. That's the whole test.

And a straight answer on where it's made: not everything is made in Scotland yet. It's designed in Scotland, for Scotland, and made where it makes sense, and every product page tells you exactly where that was. Bringing more of the making home is the long game. We'll say so when it's actually happened.
