WHy Whisky?

We went to Shetland, tasted through Lerwick's line-up and kept coming back to this one.

A few months later, there’s 300 Bear&Wolf bottles of it.

THIS STARTED IN SHETLAND.

Earlier this year Lerwick invited us up to Shetland for Up Helly Aa. It ended up being one of our favourite Bear&Wolf trips so far.

We spent time at the distillery and saw more of Shetland. Then we did the important bit on a beach and tasted through Lerwick's current line-up. Terrible day at work.

This was the whisky we kept going back to.

Somewhere in there we asked, half joking, how we end up with a Bear&Wolf whisky of our own.

A few months of conversations later, there are now 300 bottles.

THE ONE WE CHOSE

We tasted a good chunk of Lerwick's current line-up before deciding what should go in our bottle.

This was the one.

It's a blended Scotch whisky. The blend is 50% malt and 50% grain. It's bottled at 43% ABV and non-chill filtered.

ON THE BOTTLE

WHAT IT TASTES LIKE

↟ NOSE - Sweet spice, brown sugar and vanilla, with raisins and dried fruit.

↟ PALATE - Rich sweetness with dark fruit from the Sherry casks.

↟ FINISH - Long and warming, with dark fruit lingering before the spice comes back.

300 BOTTLES. NUMBERED BY HAND.

Every bottle in the Bear&Wolf edition is numbered by hand from a run of 300.

The bottle started on this trip.

We went north for Up Helly Aa and spent time in Lerwick. We came home talking about a whisky of our own.
