Care
LOOKING AFTER YOUR STAC
Waxed cotton doesn't need much looking after.
Don't machine wash it.
No washing machine and no dry cleaner. You'll strip the wax out of the cloth.
For dirt, use cold water and a sponge.
Most marks will come away without detergent.
Reproof it when it starts to look dirty.
You won't need to do this often, but fresh wax brings the weather resistance back when the cloth eventually needs it.
Let it dry naturally.
Hang it somewhere with some air. Keep it off of radiators and out of tumble dryers.
Don't worry about every single mark.
Half the point of this cloth is what happens to it after you've worn it for a while.
Look after it, and it'll outlast you.
This is the heavy one
You'll notice the weight first.
The Stac is made from 15oz Halley Stevensons waxed cotton. It's substantial stuff. It holds its shape, deals with Scottish weather and gets better once you've stopped treating it like something new.
Wear it over a shirt. Get a jumper underneath it when it turns properly cold. Leave it hanging by the back door because that's where it'll end up anyway.
Give it a few years and yours won't look like anybody else's. That's the point.
